Welcome to the Weather 20/20 Intelligence Report! We hope everyone has a safe New Year’s Eve and a Happy 2025 ahead. A Major Winter Storm is in the forecast timed for the first weekend of the new year, so let’s get started:

There are a lot of possibilities ranging from this storm completely missing some areas to a few spots getting more than 1 foot of snow. There is a difference in discussing “possibilities" vs. probabilities & forecasts. We have been forecasting this winter storm for around January 5-7 for quite a few weeks already, and in last week’s report we added in the influences of ENSO and the Arctic Oscillation. These are potential factors in where this storm will track and how strong it may become.
