This is a Friday Night In The Big Town update! I’m meteorologist Gary Lezak. A complete update with valuable information will be coming out on Monday, so join our premium version of this newsletter for just $50/month, or even better $300/year.
The video is posted here. We have concerns about the corn and soy bean crops this season as it has been drying out over the eastern half of the corn belt. The blocking and the LRC provide the answers to why this is happening, and we will discuss in-depth in our next premium update on Monday.
We will track what will be happening with the blocking on Monday, as well. This map below shows another block. This one is again an Omega block, as it resembles the greek letter Omega. This has been seriously affecting the corn belt as summer approaches
What does all of this mean? We will discuss and go in-depth in our premium version of this Weather Intelligence Report.
The LRC is right on schedule. The severe weather events over the south the past few days are much further south also as a result of the blocking, which influences the LRC. The color codes show that nearly 90% of all of the significant severe weather this season is related to the LRC, and predicted in our January 16, 2023 prediction. For example, look at the purple bars. We just had the most active severe weather day since March. This part of the pattern has produced every seven weeks or so.
Have a great weekend. Our Weather 20/20 team will be diving deeper into all of these things on Monday.
