Nancy, there is a very weak system near the Louisiana coast today, and it is actually falling apart and not developing. Just the fact that it is there, shows us that there is a 65% probability of something stronger developing over the northeast Gulf of Mexico around the second week of August and also near the end of September. For now, it is just something to monitor. The one forming farther south is definitely stronger already, so this shows that this part of the pattern is rather likely going to be producing a stronger storm in one of the next two cycles. This could mean the August 11th week or the late September time frame.

Hi Gary, did I understand you to say that there was something trying to form off the coast of New Orleans right now? Also , during that Aug 11 time frame , do you think New Orleans will be the bullseye? Thanks. ! Love your updates!
