Hi Gary, If later in the season, a storm formed where Alberto was now, would that storm follow the same track? Also, did I understand correctly that the hot spot area this year would be east of New Orleans to Tampa? Thanks Nancy
Nancy, thank you for asking this great question. There is a lot of analysis that goes into our predictions and we have new evidence that just happened with Alberto. We will be looking for a reflection of this Tropical Storm Alberto around the first week of August and then again closer to the third week of September. The jet stream is beginning to strengthen in mid-late September, so if there is a system near the same location it could get deflected north or even northeast. We will be updating this forecast in the coming days after we see what happens with the system that is near where Alberto formed a few days ago tracks inland over the weekend.
